The Eisner Prize is the highest award for creativity given on the UC Berkeley campus. Presented at BAMPFA since 1991, this screening offers the local community, as well as family and friends, an opportunity to see a wide range of work made by UC Berkeley students—from narratives and documentaries to experimental and essay films—and to talk with the makers, which includes many Film & Media students!

Damon Young, Associate Professor in French and Film and Media Studies, was recently interviewed by UC Berkeley Arts & Humanities writer-in-residence Lucille Lorenz for her weekly column "What is Humanities Research?"  In the interview, Damon discusses the discipline of Film & Media Studies and why students should explore it as well working with AI as an object of critical analysis.

Weihong Bao, associate professor of Film & Media and East Asian Languages & Cultures, has been appointed to the Pamela P. Fong and Family Distinguished Chair in China Studies. Bao's appointment marks the first time the chair has been awarded to a faculty member from a humanities discipline.

Film & Media's very own Penelope Martindale won the coveted $5,000 Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship L&S this year. Penelope will be theorizing women in baseball movies, as well as making her own film on the subject. Big high fives to Penelope, who also came in 2nd Place with the Berkeley Women's Baseball Team at the All College Women's Baseball Tournament in LA last weekend.
