In this advanced film production course students produce a 10 to 20 minute short film and work as cinematographer, sound designer, production designer, editor or producer in a classmate’s film. Student works can be fiction, non-fiction, hybrid or experimental. The term is broken into three stages – production, post-production phase 1 and post-production phase 2. During the production stage students shoot their films and present rushes in class. The first post-production phase focuses on rough cuts and the second post-production stage focuses on sound-design and color correction for final cuts. Students will also do one in class collective short film that they will work on throughout the term.
Prerequisites: Film 185 or written proposal for a 10 to 20-minute film and link to film or other art work required. Consent of instructor required.
The class is open to juniors and seniors. Preference is given to Film & Media majors.
