This advanced digital production course explores the process of making a narrative short.  Over the semester, each student will write, pre-visualize, direct and edit one project, approximately 10 – 12 minutes in length.  Students will also act as producer for a classmate's project.

The semester is broken into four stages – script concept/development, pre-production, production and post-production.  Script development emphasizes visual storytelling, dramatic structure, character development and theme.  Pre-
production highlights pre-visualization strategies, script analysis, casting, rehearsing, scheduling.  Production focuses on directing actors, shot choice/composition and crew management. Post focuses on editing aesthetics and sound design.

By developing one project over the semester, each student has the opportunity to create a short that is technically proficient and personally meaningful.

Prerequisites: Film 185 or production experience. Priority is given to qualified Film & Media majors and seniors.  Interested students should fill out an application form at https://forms.gle/tUv9CATpbzmygNsD6

The deadline to apply is Friday, Dec 1st. Applicants will be notified of enrollment by Friday, December 15th. Due to the limited space in the class, all students who apply should enroll in a backup course.
